the forest

tall trees lined up on both sides
like silent sentries
their branches reach out for each other
for support
as they gently offer their canopy
of green, vibrant leaves
to the little girl
sitting under the oak tree
dreaming of faraway lands
where fairies danced
and mermaids swam
love was all around

  1. I too used to be a lonely little girl as my parents lived far away from me. Your poem brought back those nostalgic feelings of the little girl still in me!
